About the University
Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) is one of Russia’s leading technical universities, a recognized center of engineering education, science, and innovation. Each track includes four key modules:
- Design,
- Industry Partner,
- Soft Skills,
- Project Work.
Modules are held in mini-groups of 25 participants and last for two days each.
Planned areas of study modules:
- Design Laboratory,
- Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Laboratory,
- Materials Properties Testing Laboratory,
- Aerodynamics Laboratory,
- Polymer and Composite Materials Laboratory,
- Digital Transformation and Lean Manufacturing Laboratory,
- Soft Skills Laboratory.
Project Module
Project work within the Winter University is organized in collaboration with SPbPU faculty and representatives of industry partners. While implementing their projects, students solve real engineering problems and develop teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
Key activities of the project module:
- Lectures by experts from industry partners and case study analysis,
- Workshops by faculty of the Advanced Engineering School,
- Participant pitch sessions,
- Engineering competition for structural design (for example, building a bridge out of spaghetti and tape),
- Presentations of SPbPU Master’s programs: opportunities for further education.
Cultural and Leisure Program
The Winter University’s cultural program introduces participants to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Saint Petersburg, fostering international communication and strengthening intercultural ties.
Main activities:
- Excursions to the Hermitage, Fabergé Museum, Yusupov Palace, and trips to the towns of Pushkin and Kronstadt (Island of Forts),
- Campus tour of SPbPU and a visit to the University History Museum,
- Teambuilding events, workshops, and intercultural meetings.
Excursion programs are conducted in Russian and English.
